Every year, the Fashion Hub at CNMI (Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana) surprises me; not just with its creativity, but with its deep commitment to sustainability and support for emerging designers, artists, and organizations. It’s a space where fashion meets purpose, and this year was no exception.

When fashion crosses paths with fine art and sustainability, it creates a realm where clothing becomes more than just attire – it becomes a living canvas. I had the pleasure of chatting with Chelsea Jean Lamm, a Munich-based ethical fashion designer whose work in wearable art was featured at the Milan Fashion Hub, showcasing the future of sustainable fashion.
From Collages to Couture: The Creative Journey
I remember standing in front of one of Chelsea’s pieces, struck by how the layers of collage seemed to echo the layers of emotion we carry. It wasn’t just fashion – it was memory made wearable.
Chelsea’s creative journey begins not with fabric, but with paper. She sources second-hand books and magazines from local recycling centers, cutting and assembling analog collages that become the foundation for their designs. These collages are then translated into wearable sculptures – each piece a one-of-a-kind statement that blends contemporary art with couture.
This process isn’t just visually stunning; it’s deeply sustainable. By repurposing discarded media, the brand challenges the fast fashion cycle and invites us to see beauty in what others overlook.

The brand emerged in 2022, during the height of the pandemic. With borders closed and the world in flux, Chelsea and Ashley turned inward, channeling their energy into creativity. Their mission became clear: to bring optimism, ethics, and artistry into the fashion world.
When I asked Chelsea to define her brand in three words, she chose:
Wearable Art. Ethical Responsibility. Visual Optimism.
These aren’t just buzzwords – they’re the pillars of her practice. Each garment tells a story, not just of design, but of transformation, hope, and care for the planet.
In a fashion landscape often dominated by trends and speed, Chelsea Jean Lamm’s work reminds us of the power of intention. Her presence at the Fashion Hub this year was more than a showcase – it was a statement. A reminder that fashion can be thoughtful, expressive, and sustainable all at once.

As Milan continues to champion designers who dare to think differently, I believe voices like Chelsea’s will shape the future of fashion - not just in Italy, but globally.
