Why 2025 Is the Year Fashion Reconnects with Its Roots

Fashion Hub 2025: The Secret Link Between Tradition and Trend

Each September, Milan becomes more than a city – it becomes a heartbeat of creativity. This year, during Milano Moda Donna SS26 (23–28 September 2025), I had the chance to dive once again into the Fashion Hub organized by Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (CNMI). Hosted at the historic Palazzo Giureconsulti, this space stood as a bridge between heritage and new generation design, proving that Milan is still the epicenter of fashion innovation and cultural exchange.

Having followed the Fashion Hub for years, I knew it was more than an exhibition – it’s a living narrative of what’s next in fashion. But this year felt different. The 2025 edition carried a new depth and emotional rhythm, perhaps because the industry itself is rethinking what creativity means in an age of sustainability, responsibility, and inclusion.

From my perspective, the Fashion Hub isn’t just a platform—it’s a mission. CNMI continues to champion the pillars of experimentation, craftsmanship, sustainability, inclusion, and education, giving visibility to designers who merge ethics with aesthetics.

The 2025 edition unfolded through several curated projects, each narrating a different vision of fashion’s evolution:

  • Future Threads: Italy’s New Wave showcased the reimagining of “Made in Italy.” Designers like Durazzi Milano, Federico Cina, Francesco Murano, Institution, Magliano, and Niccolò Pasqualetti presented collections that spoke about identity, culture, and conscious production. Their works blended traditional Italian techniques with a new generation’s global perspective.
  • New Gen, New Ethos introduced a fresh lineup – Cascinelli, Chelsea Jean Lamm, Liwen Liang, Victor Weinsanto, and members from the Afro Fashion Association including Cute-Saint, Kathiana Saincy Couture, and Zineb Hazim. Each designer brought unique energy and authenticity, exploring how fashion can be both personal and political.

Beyond the main showcases, thematic installations like “Beyond the Visible” (with Certilogo) and “Heritage Next: Glowing Milano” (with WWD China) opened dialogues on traceability, technology, and cultural storytelling. For me, these moments highlighted how innovation is not replacing tradition – it’s redefining it.

Walking through the Palazzo, I felt that same spark I had when I first arrived in Milan years ago – the feeling that here, creativity has no boundaries. The Fashion Hub has a way of reminding me why I chose this city and this career: because fashion here is not only about clothes, but about culture, ideas, and progress.

Each installation felt like a conversation – between past and future, designers and audiences, technology and craftsmanship. I took time to observe how emerging designers communicate their messages visually, how they blend sustainability into storytelling, and how collaboration is becoming the true luxury of our time.

What I took away most was inspiration. Seeing young brands courageously reimagining their identities reminded me of my own journey- bridging education, styling, communication, and brand strategy. The Hub reaffirmed my belief that being in Milan means being part of a global dialogue where art, culture, and innovation intersect.

In today’s world, fashion needs more than beauty – it needs meaning. The Fashion Hub 2025 proved that our industry is evolving towards purpose-driven design. These new talents are not chasing trends; they’re shaping values.

For professionals like me – educators, communicators, and strategists – such events are not just inspiring but essential. They serve as reminders of why we’re here: to nurture creativity, to share knowledge, and to build platforms where new voices can rise.

Every time I attend Fashion Week, I carry back not just notes or visuals, but a renewed sense of purpose. This year, the Fashion Hub gave me that again – an emotional connection to what I do and why I continue to grow here in Milan.
